Three major discoveries have recently been made at Sakkara, including a prime minister’s tomb, a queen’s pyramid, and the tomb of the son of a dynasty-founding king. Each discovery has a fascinating story, with many adventures for the archaeologists as they revealed the secrets of the past. Sakkara is 27-Km south-west of Cairo, and is best known for the Step Pyramid, the oldest known of Egypt's 97 pyramids. Included is a visit to see these step Pyramids of Sakkara, followed by a visit to The Pyramids of Unas & Oser-Kaf the Mastaba, the Tomb of Mereruka and Ti & Pta-Hotep (carved and painted tombs). Then journey onto Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt to see the Colossal Statue of Ramses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx. This tour will be followed by lunch.
