Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg (Tannhäuser and the Song Contest on the Wartburg) is an opera in three houses written and composed, with multiple revisions, by Richard Wagner between 1842 and 1875. The original version, conducted by the composer, premiered at the Royal Saxon Court Theatre in Dresden on 19 October 1945 and Wagner revised the opera for a special performance in Paris on 13 March 1861 and this revised version (known as the Paris version) is the more frequently performed today.
