Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts


The Philharmonic Hall first opened its doors in September of 1962, however, in 1973 it was renamed Avery Fisher Hall in honour of a munificent donation made by Avery Fisher. In October of 1976 it underwent a complete acoustical reconstruction. The Avery Fisher Hall has a capacity of 2,600, and is the home of the New York Philharmonic. presentation of the finest guest conductors and artists in the world.

Lincoln Center is on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, between West 62nd and 65th Streets and Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Avery Fisher Hall is located at the northern end of the Lincoln Center Plaza, at the corner of Columbus Avenue and 65th Street.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT


By Subway: Take the #1 or #9 local train to 66th Street/Lincoln Center Station.

By Bus: The M5, M7, M10, M66, and M104 bus lines all stop within one block of Lincoln Center.

Men's and Women's Restrooms: Accessible on Plaza and Orchestra Levels.

Unisex Restroom: Accessible on Orchestra Levels.

Accessibility


Accessible through automated doors from the Josie Robertson Plaza and from the handicapped parking area in the Lincoln Center Park-and-Lock Garage. Elevators on the Concourse Level, located to the left of the Cork Gallery from the West 65th Street entrance to the garage, provide access to the Avery Fisher Hall Box Office, Josie Robertson Plaza, and all levels of the concert hall. Security guards are posted in the area and available to assist all patrons.

Assistive Listening Devices


Available for Hard of Hearing patrons. For headsets and loops, a major credit card or driver’s license is needed as a security deposit. See the House Manager on the Orchestra Level.

  • Cafe Vienna
    Plaza Level. An authentic Viennese Kaffeehaus serving pastries, cakes, specialty coffees, and sandwiches. Open 5:00pm pre-performance, evenings. Open from 11:30am on matinee days (Fridays and Saturdays). Accessible.
  • Promenade Intermission Bars
    Promenade. Open a half-hour before curtain and during intermission. Serving cocktails, coffee, soft drinks, hors d'oeuvres, light pastries, and sandwiches. Accessible.
