Experience the awesome power and history of Glacier Country on the Hukawai Interactive Walkthrough... make your way through rainforest and icy surrounds to the interior of a simulated Franz Josef Glacier, complete with ice caves and crevasses.

Interactive and captivating for all ages, the Interpretive Walkway uses audio-visuals, amazing 3D creatives, leading edge animation technology and lots of friendly local knowledge to bring these icy natural wonders to life

Great for the whole family, the walkway offers interesting facts about Maori history, West Coast flora and fauna and the Franz Josef glacier in an exciting and educational way.

As a bonus, on your way around the Interpretive Walkway, you’ll be able to see visitors climbing the Indoor Ice Climbing Wall…and may be inspired to give it a go yourself!

Location

Hukawai Glacier Centre is located close to the amazing Franz Josef Glacier, in the beautiful township of Franz Josef, on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand.

You can find the Glacier Centre on the corner of Cowan and Cron Streets, Franz Joseph township. (north end of Franz township - Cowan Street is on your right when heading north). Look for a large dark grey building. It’s hard to miss!
