†Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer and give a minimum of an extra 10% per ticket through the Gift Aid scheme, the Gallery can reclaim the tax you have already paid on the earnings from which you have purchased your exhibition ticket.
The option to donate an extra 10% is entirely voluntary but if you do the Gallery is able to claim Gift Aid on the full amount, not just the extra 10%. The means the taxman will give the Gallery an extra 25p per £1 on top of your total ticket price. Up to 5 April 2011, the taxman will grant an additional relief to raise this to 28p.
If you wish to support the National Portrait Gallery in this way, please select the Adult or Senior Gift Aid pricing here and show your agreement to the Gift Aid declaration by ticking the box on the next page.
* If you pay tax at the higher rate, you may also reclaim tax relief on your gross donation excluding the ticket booking fee at 20% (i.e. the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 20%).
In order for Gift Aid to be reclaimed, you must pay an amount of UK income tax or capital gains tax equal to the tax we reclaim on your donations in the current tax year.

Irving Penn was one of the most distinguished photographers of our time. Focusing on his portraits of major cultural figures over the last seven decades, Irving Penn Portraits is a glorious celebration of his work in this genre.
The exhibition includes over 120 exquisite prints, many vintage, ranging from his earliest portraits for Vogue magazine in 1944 to the present day. The variety and significance of sitters in Penn’s photographs is extraordinary. Among those featured in the exhibition are Truman Capote, Christian Dior, Duke Ellington, Alfred Hitchcock, Al Pacino, Edith Piaf and Pablo Picasso.
