The adventure begins at the entrance to the Macuco Safari, located 25 kilometer down Cataratas Highway inside Iguassu National Park. Well being in open jeep-towed wagons that allow for an unobstructed view of the scenery along the trail. During the stretch of three kilometers through the jungle, multi-lingual guides will point out examples of the flora and fauna of the Park.

Orchids, palm trees, bromeliads, centenaria trees, and even wild animals that occasionally cross the trail are pointed out by the guides.

The hike is the second stage of our journey. On a stretch of 600 meters, is a hike on a trail that leads to a waterfall called "Macuco Falls" (optional). The waterfall - perfect for a refreshing dip on hot days - spills down from a height of approximately 20 meters. Access is via a stairway carved into the ancient rock. The last stop is the Macuco Safari docks on the Brazilian side of the Iguassu River.

In the water, inflatable bi-motor boats await us. They´re constructed to withstand the rigors of the excursion, as well as being secure and efficient vessels. Before embarkation, passengers receive life-vests and plastic containers in which to protect photographic and filming equipment. The boat travels up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids at a speed that allows for scenic viewing.

Rocks, animals and ample amounts of greenery complete the scenery until the base of the Falls is reached, next to the "great horseshoe" know as the "Devils Throat".

Enjoy a waterfall shower. Rainbows, blue sky, mist and water in abundance, punctuate the spectacle whose high-point is the "The Three Musketeers". Here the captain maneuvers the boat in order to get close enough to provide the passengers with a quick and refreshing shower. Since at the end of the fun everyone normally ends-up wet, passengers more sensitive to cold should make sure to bring extra clothing to use after the boat excursion.

Comfortable shoes and clothing are highly recommended.

Located a few kilometers from the union of the Iguassu River, the waterfalls awe with their size, water flow and strong current.

The geologic change that gave birth to the Iguassu Waterfalls took place nearly 150 million years ago and shook the earth crust around the globe. At the Iguassu region those changes created a gigantic canyon, full of rock steps through which the grand Iguassu flows, producing a huge steam cloud and a deafening sound.

The average flow of the Waterfalls is around 1.800 m3 per second, for an average amount of 10 million liters per second. During the rain season the stream of the Iguassu River increases and shows an even more beautiful spectacle.

The biggest waterfall is the Devils Throat, which is 90 meters high. The volume of water poured down creates a cloud of drizzling water that can be watched from kilometers away.
The adventure begins with embarkation from Porto Meira (Iguassu River, Iguassu Falls, Brazil) in a 40-passenger capacity yacht with a cabin, covered deck, sun deck and American bar. From Porto Meira the boat navigates a section of the Iguassu River passing under the Tancredo Neves Bridge (Brazil to Argentina) and in front of the Landmark of the Three Frontiers, where one has an excellent view of the Americas Space.

The Americas Space is a government project of the State of Parana and was planned as a center for large to medium sized events. The structure, built in a contemporary style, is at the exact spot where the Iguassu and Parana Rivers meet, providing another picture perfect view of the region.

This branch of the Parana River is also dominated by the famous "Dourado" fish, also know as the "Tiger of the Parana". Enjoy the beautiful riverside scenery of rocks and vegetation native to the region while the crew serves Brazilian cocktails made from local fruits - a success among foreigners, generally lovers of a good "caipirinha".

Upon arrival at Puerto Bertoni on the Paraguayan bank of the river, the second stage of the excursion begins. First we will hike through a forest trail (one of the magic moments of the excursion) that leads to the old Bertoni family installations which have been transformed into a museum. Personal objects, family furnishings, hundreds of books edited by the scholarly Swiss, machines, working objects and photographs are among other historical records detailing the passage of Moises Bertoni through the triple-frontier region.
