More than half of the peninsula is covered with lava flows, some of which are only a few hundred years old. You&#8217;ll see lava cones and craters of many different shapes and sizes and we&#8217;ll visit the bridge between the continents. <br /> <br /> Next, we&#8217;ll head for the lighthouse on the westernmost tip of the peninsula. This is a magnificent area rich in bird life during the summer months.<br /> <br /> Eldey Island, just off the point at &#8220;lands end,&#8221; is the home of one of the largest bird breeding colonies of the magnificent Northern Gannet. You can feel the forces of nature and hear the surf crashing at the beautiful basaltic cliffs. The caves become wide and high and in many places, the floor is quite even. However, the trip can be quite difficult so bring good walking shoes/hiking boots suitable for uneven lava surfaces.<br /> <br /> Respect for nature and safety are our main concerns.
