Have you ever imagined yourself at the controls of the Space Shuttle, preparing for launch at Kennedy Space Center?

ATX Basic Training is a one-half day experience, designed to immerse you in an exciting combination of hands-on training and simulations to prepare you for the rigors of space flight. Veteran NASA Astronauts helped design the program, and you'll hear first-hand from them as you progress through mission simulations and hands-on space exploration activities. Your day program includes:

Motion-Based Spaceflight Simulators
Full Scale Space Shuttle Mission Simulation
Astronaut Briefing and Question & Answer Session
Snacks and Beverages
ATX Gear (including Mission Polo Shirt)
Led by Educators and Space Flight Experts

Space is infinite... but ATX space is not.

Mission participants must be 14 years of age or older. Mission participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Some height and weight restrictions apply on certain simulators. Shorts or pants recommended (no skirts). Athletic footwear preferred. Participants should be free of neck and back injuries. Tour may be altered or closed due to operational requirements. Morning and Afternoon ATX sessions available on select dates.

This day at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex includes the KSC Tour of NASAs Launch Headquarters, both IMAX films, all shows and exhibits and a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame. The tour includes stops at the four story LC-39 observation gantry where guests get a birds eye view of the space shuttle launch pads and parts of the worlds busiest space launch facility. The second tour stop is the acclaimed Apollo/Saturn V Center, where guests walk beneath a massive Saturn V rocket, relive Neil Armstrongs first steps on the moon and experience the thunderous rumble of a Saturn V moon rocket lift off. Later, guests can take a trip to the International Space Station Center where theyll see real parts of the space station being readied for Launch!

Their day continues with IMAX movie screenings of the new Magnificent Desolation where they explore the moon in full 3-D, and Space Station 3-D, which takes them on a virtual trip to the International Space Station in a fully immersive big-screen environment. Guests also enjoy the many other shows and exhibits at the Visitor Complex including a chance to meet a real astronaut at the Astronaut Encounter Show and enjoy the zany live-action show Mad Mission to Mars 2025. The day is topped off with a visit to the Astronaut Hall of Fame, located at the entrance to Kennedy Space Center and a short 5-minute drive from the Visitor Complex. This attraction features the worlds largest collection of personal astronaut mementos, plus historic spacecraft, one-of-a-kind space legacies and hands on activities. Guests can sit in a mission control console, take a virtual moonwalk, feel the pull of 4 Gs in the G-Force Simulator and land the Space Shuttle.

Opened in May of 2007 and included with Admission is the new Shuttle Launch Experience. Shuttle Launch Experience replicates the sights, sounds and feelings of a shuttle launch, an incredible journey of launching into space and orbiting Earth aboard a Space Shuttle. Guest crewmembers strap in and go vertical for launch in a one-of-a-kind motion-based simulator, the only realistic simulation of a launch ever created. The five-minute experience sequence culminates with a breath-taking view of Earth from space.

This ticket allows your guests to do everything in one day or return for a second day within a seven-day period.

Guests can use this Maximum Access Pass for 2 consecutive days Kennedy Space Center operates every day of the year except for Christmas Day and certain launch dates. (These dates can not be predefined due to NASA requirements.)

WHAT DOES THE SPACE PASS INCLUDE?

The Kennedy Space Center is suitable for people of all ages although children over the age of 7 are likely to understand and enjoy the experience more. The Space Pass combines the Maximum Access Pass experience with one of two unique guided tours within the restricted areas of Kennedy Space Center, plus the Dine with an Astronaut program.

The main exhibits and attractions include the following:

• LC-39 Observation Gantry a panoramic view of the space shuttle and rocket launch pads in Kennedy Space Center as well as Cape Canaveral Air Force Station

• Apollo/Saturn V Center dramatic multi media shows and hands on displays. Relive the historic launch of Apollo 8 and see the real 111 meter Saturn V moon rocket, the most powerful rocket every built.

• IMAX Theaters the only back to back twin IMAX Theaters in the world showing The Dream is Alive filmed by shuttle astronauts and Space Station (3-D) filmed by 25 astronauts and narrated by Tom Cruise.

• Shuttle Plaza where you can see the Explorer a full-size Space Shuttle orbiter replica

• Rocket Garden An outdoor garden that features eight authentic rockets form the past. Climb aboard the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsule replicas and get an idea of the cramped quarters and early astronauts lived in.

• Astronaut Encounter personal stories told by a real live astronaut followed by a question and answer session

• Space Shop where you can purchase real astronaut food and over 8,000 space related items

• Astronaut Hall of Fame - The Astronaut Hall of Fame, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complexs newest attraction chronicling the personal side of the NASA story, it opened its doors to the public on Saturday, December 14, 2002. A formal grand opening celebration and unveiling of new educational programs at the Hall of Fame took place in Spring 2003. The Astronaut Hall of Fame houses the world's largest collection of astronaut memorabilia, as well as displays, exhibits and tributes dedicated to the heroes of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. The Exhibit Hall houses an historic collection of spacecrafts, including a Mercury Sigma 7 capsule, a Gemini training capsule and an Apollo 14 command module. In the Simulator Station, realistic astronaut training simulators allow guests to feel the pressure of four times the force of gravity, ride a rover across Mars, and land a Space Shuttle.

Nasa Up Close

The number of daily departures, for this tour, vary based on operational requirements. First departure is 10am last departure is 1.50pm lasting approximately 90 minutes.

This is a special interest guided tour that offers a guest a unique opportunity to view areas normally only open to astronauts, their families and NASA personnel. The tour takes guests by Space Launch Pads A & B for a unique photo opportunity and provides an up-close view of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), which houses the Space Shuttle prior to its roll out to the launch pads. The Shuttle Landing runway and the massive Crawler-Transporter, which transports the Shuttle from the VAB to its launch pad, are also featured in this insiders view of the space program, from launch preparation to lift-off. Each visitor receives a special VIP kit at the end of the program.

Cape Canaveral

This tour is not being offered at this time due to elevated national security.

Then and Now - a unique guided tour highlighting the past, present, and future of space travel. This special interest tour takes guests on a narrated, in-depth journey through the Capes 50 year history of Space Exploration. Tour highlights include Launch Complex 5/6, the sites from which Americas first manned space flights were conducted. Alan Shepards training facility at Hangar S; and Launch Complexes 40/41, where Voyager probes, the Viking Mars Landers and most recently, the Cassini Saturn probe were launched.

Dine with an Astronaut

Seating begins at 12.15pm daily lasting approximately 90 minutes.

This memorable program enables guests to experience the once-in-a lifetime thrill of dining with an actual astronaut. Visitors enjoy a delicious catered meal and signature space-themed dessert while the featured astronaut gives a personalised presentation. Guests will then have the opportunity to ask questions and have photos taken with the astronaut. Each guest receives an autographed souvenir to commemorate the occasion.
