Named for the Alabama 2, a legal case in the American deep South during the 1930s, in which two black men were hanged for allegedly raping a white woman. The name is also a nod to other victims of injustice like the Birmingham 6 and Guildford 4. In the United States, they are known as A3, after they were sued by the legendary country outfit Alabama.
His music is a blend of garage MCing, conventional rap, grime and ragga, with some more eclectic samples.

Dizzee began MCing on pirate radio and at raves at fifteen, but since his mainstream success he has distanced himself from the fledgling scene. Rascal grew up in the East End of London in south Bow in a council estate, raised by his single mother, a Ghanaian immigrant. Little is known about his father, though it is thought that he died when Mills was two. He attributes his musical development to a school teacher who allowed him to skip regular classes and spend time working on music on the school computers.

His music is an eclectic mixture of garage and hip-hop beats with an extremely broad palette of influences, ranging from metal guitars to found sounds, drill and bass synth lines, eclectic samples and even Japanese court music. His vocal performance is also distinctive, he uses a fast version of rapping (known as ‘spitting’) which blends elements from garage MCing, conventional rap, grime and ragga.

Dizzee Rascal has numerous rivals within the Grime scene, mainly from the Bow, East London area. A notable rival of Dizzee Rascal is Crazy Titch who produced and recorded a diss called “Just An Arsehole” which used the backing track of Dizzee’s record of “Jus A Rascal”.

Tickets from Keith Prowse Tickets<dcterms:modified>2009-07-03T16:05:41-00:00</dcterms:modified><geo:lat>55.94786000</geo:lat><geo:long>-3.20578000</geo:long><geourl:latitude>55.94786000</geourl:latitude><geourl:longitude>-3.20578000</geourl:longitude><icbm:latitude>55.94786000</icbm:latitude><icbm:longitude>-3.20578000</icbm:longitude>

New York Dolls Concert Tickets, HMV Forum, London

The New York Dolls are a glam rock group formed in New York City in 1971.

They found little success during their initial run, but the New York Dolls prefigured much of what was to come in the punk rock era and even later; the Dolls’ over-the-top crossdressing influenced the look of many glam metal groups, especially that of early Mötley Crüe, and their shambling, sloppy but highly energetic playing style set the tone for many later rock and roll bands.

Chrissie Hynde once commented that every punk band (“And I knew them all”) had both New York Dolls albums, illustrating the Dolls’ influence.

In 2004, the three surviving members reunited for some work. In 2006, now down to two surviving members, the band released a new album.

Tickets from Keith Prowse Tickets<dcterms:modified>2009-07-03T16:05:41-00:00</dcterms:modified><geo:lat>51.55217500</geo:lat><geo:long>-0.14208000</geo:long><geourl:latitude>51.55217500</geourl:latitude><geourl:longitude>-0.14208000</geourl:longitude><icbm:latitude>51.55217500</icbm:latitude><icbm:longitude>-0.14208000</icbm:longitude>

Laura Izibor Concert Tickets, Jazz Café, London

A beautiful pianist with an unbelievably soulful voice.
