Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient) makes her long-awaited Broadway debut this fall, in a stunning production of Chekhov's masterpiece, a melancholy comedy set among the high society of late 19th-century Russia. Thomas portrays Arkadina, a volatile, extravagant actress and mother of Konstantin (Mackenzie Crook, BBC’s The Office), a young man struggling to define himself as a writer. Her arrival to the family’s country home, along with that of her lover (acclaimed film actor Peter Sarsgaard) creates a host of long-lasting romantic and artistic conflicts.
Direct from a sold-out run at London's Royal Court Theatre, where it broke box office records and became the must-see event of the season, The Seagull will be on Broadway for a strictly limited 14-week engagement. The New Yorker calls it, "The finest British production of Chekhov in recent memory."
