In the long shadow of the twentieth century, Eldridge's play is a delicate yet truthful depiction of all the degrees of love - from fondness and affection through the headier extremes of a drunken romp. It gives us an all too recognisable portrayal of the way in which uncertainties, misunderstanding and the unsaid lead to unexpected results for three couples who seem destined never to say the right thing.

This all star cast includes Catherine Tate who makes a welcome return to the West End to play Michelle, following her many guises in her award-winning sketch show The Catherine Tate Show for the BBC. Previous theatre credits include Neil LaBute's Some Girls with David Schwimmer and the 24 Hour Plays for The Old Vic. She can currently be seen on our television screens saving the planet alongside David Tennant, in the hugely popular series Doctor Who, also for the BBC. Alongside Catherine is Francesca Annis (Anne) who has most recently been seen on television as Lady Ludlow in the BBC's award-winning series Cranford. Her last stage appearance in the West End was alongside Joseph Fiennes in Epitaph for George Dillon at the Comedy Theatre. Lisa Dillon, whose recent stage credits include Present Laughter and The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other for the National Theatre and Hedda Gabler for the Almeida will play Helen, while Chris O'Dowd, best known for his performance as Roy in Channel 4's hit comedy series The IT Crowd plays Nick. Dominic Rowan will play Graham. His recent stage credits include A Voyage Around My Father for the Donmar Warehouse and Happy Now?. Further casting will be announced shortly.

Under the Blue Sky first premiered at the Royal Court in 2000, to unanimous critical acclaim. David Eldridge's many other theatre credits include Incomplete and Random Acts of Kindess for the Royal Court and Market Boy for The National Theatre in 2006. 2004 saw Eldridge's multi award-wining Festen open at the Almeida Theatre with later transfers to the West End and Broadway.

Under the Blue Sky is directed by Anna Mackmin, who most recently directed David Storey's In Celebration in the West End, starring Orlando Bloom. She made her National Theatre directorial debut with Burn, Citizenship and Chatroom.

Tickets from Keith Prowse Norge<dcterms:modified>2008-05-22T11:17:17-00:00</dcterms:modified><geo:lat>51.51008303</geo:lat><geo:long>-0.12753490</geo:long><geourl:latitude>51.51008303</geourl:latitude><geourl:longitude>-0.12753490</geourl:longitude><icbm:latitude>51.51008303</icbm:latitude><icbm:longitude>-0.12753490</icbm:longitude>

The Pretty Things – Acoustic gig with support by The Malchicks konsertbilletter, Eel Pie Club, Twickenham

THE PRETTY THINGS are back! After successful tours of Europe and the USA, and London gigs at The Eel Pie Club and the 100 Club, the full electric band will have just finished appearing alongside Chuck Berry at The Shepherds Bush Empire, and 4 days later the acoustic band will be performing at The Eel Pie Club, Twickenham.

The acoustic line-up has been very popular at The 100 Club and other more intimate venues, and features original Pretty Things, Phil May on lead vocals, guitar and blues harp, Dick Taylor (original Pretty Things and Rolling Stone) on acoustic, slide and lead guitar, and Frank Holland (who joined the band in 1992) on acoustic, slide guitar, backing vocals and harp.

THE PRETTY THINGS have had a chequered history which moved the band from hard-edged rhythm n blues, through psychedelia, a rock opera, and heavy metal – and once again back to the music that made them famous - rhythm n blues. They released a new album last summer ‘Balboa Island’ to rave reviews.

Their act is as relevant today as it was when they first prowled the stage in 1964, when they caused a sensation with the world’s longest hair and the worst Rock & Roll attitude ever seen. Their first three singles – ‘Rosalyn’, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and ‘Honey I Need’ all made the charts. In the late ‘60’s, the band moved on from hard-edged blues to psychedelia and their song ‘Midnight to Six Man’ defined the mod lifestyle of the mid-sixties. They produced the first rock opera ‘S.F. Sorrow’, followed by the highly-acclaimed record album ‘Parachute’ which was named “Album of the Year” by Rolling Stone.

Teenage Rhythm ‘n’ Blues duo, The Malchicks, will provide support. In the May/June edition of ‘Blues Matters’, their photo adorns the front cover.
Band Members are Henry Padovani (founder member of The Police) on guitar, Paul Slack on bass and Chris Musto on drums. They have just released a new album “Three for Trouble”.

Henry Padovani (together with Sting and Stewart Copeland) was a founder member of The Police in 1977. He split with the band soon after the arrival of Andy Summers and went on to join Wayne County and The Electric Chairs before setting up The Flying Padovanis with Chris Musto and Paul Slack. Nicknamed “The Instrumental Kings of Rock ‘n’ Roll!”, they were regulars on the London circuit, playing with ‘everyone that goes on a stage’, from Pete Townshend to Kim Wilde, from The Jam to The Pretenders. In 1984, Henry joined up with Miles Copeland to form IRS Records, with whom he launched, among others, REM. He became manager to Zucchero and went on to sell more than 10 million albums during their 5 year collaboration. In 2002, Henry decided to take up his guitar again and wrote the music for a couple of acclaimed French films before recording his solo album “A Croire que c’etait Pour La Vie” where he sings and surrounds himself with his fellow musicians, Sting, Stewart Copeland, Manu Katche, Steve Hunter, Glen Matlock, Chris Musto and others. He has also written a book of his memories “Secret Police Man”, published by Flammarion.
