Mozart Requiem theater tickets, Kollegienkirche, Salzburg

Performed in the version completed by F.X.Süssmayr. Mozart’s last work, his Requiem KV 626, will be performed in the very heart of Salzburg opposite the house of his birth.

Mozart was anonymously commissioned to write a requiem in the summer of 1791, which he composed during his progressing illness in the last months of his life. He was unable to complete the great work by the time of his death, December 5th, 1791. Although the general public at this time showed little interest in Mozart or his serious illness, Mozart spent the last months of his life musically preoccupied with his own anticipated death. His Requiem reflects the phases of fear, hope and salvation that Mozart went through before he could complete his work and died.

Mozart’s former pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr completed the requiem relying on his master’s last oral instructions and written notes.

Renaissance Faces: Van Eyck to Titian exhibition tickets, National Gallery, London

For the first time ever, this exhibition will trace the development of fifteenth- and sixteenth-century portrait painting, in both northern and southern Europe side by side.

'Renaissance Faces' will feature many of the great masters of the Renaissance, including Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Michelangelo, Botticelli, Holbein, Cranach, Van Eyck and Dürer. The exhibition will comprise around seventy paintings, along with medals, sculptures, drawings and engravings.

'Renaissance Faces' will explore issues of likeness, memory and identity, examining portraits which were commissioned in connection with courtship, friendship and marriage – including self-portraits of artists themselves.

The evolution of the full-length portrait, and an examination of the relatively unexplored area of counter-portraits and the anti-ideal, will be highlights of the exhibition – along with rare loans and new research into the works on display.
Renaissance Faces is organised with the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid.

Solists, Choir and Orchestra of the Salburger Konzertgesellschaft perform Mozart's Requiem conducted by Konstantin Hiller in Vienna.

Fans of Mozarts spiritual music will be thrilled by this performance of Mozart's requiem. Mozart's last opus in an amazing concert in one of the most beautiful baroque doms north of the alps. This masterpiece of classical music is characterized by it's different emotional phases of uprising, fear, hope and salvation. Emotions that Mozart lived through during the weeks of writing the musik that should be his last.

The choir and the orchestra of the Salzburger Konzertgesellschaft are two ensembles consisting of musicans with strong ties to Salzburg, the Mozartcity, and the Konzertgesellschaft. The members of the choir are all trained singers, who for the most part graduated from the highly renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg.

Major Barbara works tirelessly for the poor at a Salvation Army shelter until a large but morally dubious donation is welcomed from her estranged father, a millionaire weapons manufacturer. Nothing is ever done in this world until men are prepared to kill one another if it is not done.

The National’s recent production of Saint Joan (Best Revival, Laurence Oliver Awards 2008) suggested that Shaw may be our most provocative contemporary playwright.

Simon Russell Beale plays the millionaire, Undershaft, in this radical state-of-the-nation play which confronts the big questions with brutal panache.
